I'm Kas. I write, program, and design games.
My work is split up into two modes:
Mode 1) A yearning for a past which no longer exists.
These works explore the desire for a return to a historical past where humans and nature are intertwined, living together in harmony. There is a tradition of generative musical environments here, worlds which are themselves alive and totally diegetic. These experiences use a systems-first design philosophy and rely on interconnection to function. As such, these projects are long-term endeavors and often compile into one another as time progresses.
Mode 2) A fear of a future which may never come.
I have terrible phobias surrounding climate change, the technological singularity, nuclear war, and other apocalyptic tidings. My writing explores these darker topics and informs many of my narrative focused games. Characters flow in and out of various overlapping dimensions and realities in these works, using a diverse range of symbolic mechanisms to travel through time and space.
